Apple Event 2023: iOS 17 Release Date Unveiled by Apple
The highly anticipated iOS 17 release date has been eagerly awaited by Apple users and tech enthusiasts ever since its preview at the WWDC in June. Currently in beta testing mode, iOS 17 has only been accessible to developers and public beta testers. However, the wait is finally over as it will now be made available to everyone.
Apple has confirmed in iPhone press releases that its latest operating system, iOS 17, will be released as a free software update on Monday, September 18, 2023.
iOS 17 includes several new features and updates. Phones, FaceTime and Messages include new features and updates to other apps.
From September 18, you can use all the new features and updates of iOS17.
Features and updates in iOS 17
Custom Contact Posters: In iOS 17 You can now choose a photo or Memoji, choose a font, font color and more and see them when you call a person. This feature is available for the Phone app and also for third-party apps.
Live Voicemail: This feature displays a transcript of the message on the lock screen while the person is speaking in real time. Basically, you can read whatever is said in your voicemail on your lock screen and choose whether or not to answer the call. Calls marked as spam by operators will be rejected and will not appear as a live voicemail message.
NameDrop: This is a feature of AirDrop where you can bring your iPhone near another iPhone to exchange contacts. This also applies to the Apple Watch.
Facetime app: If you can’t answer a call on FaceTime, the person on the other end can leave you a video or voice message.
You can now link your iPhone or iPad to Apple TV 4K for TV FaceTime. This feature supports Center Stage framing and all other FaceTime features, including Handoff, for transferring calls between your iOS device and your TV.
Messaging app: Now you can use the messaging app with a clearer user interface. The new update lets you access apps, photos, and the camera attached to the “+” button next to the text bar.
In addition to these features, an important new feature called StandBy has been introduced. It’s a new full-screen view that offers viewable information designed to be viewed from afar while the iPhone is on its side and charging.
There are several other updates available in iOS 17. You can use all of them after iOS 17 is released to the public. Until then, if you’re curious, you can use the iOS 17 beta.
